There are good points and bad points to being a Guinness record holder, especially if you have the title of world’s longest tongue.

“I’m not only able to lick my nose, but also my elbow,” says 24-year-old Nick Stoeberl from California, whose tongue measures 10.1cm.

The downside? “I have to spend longer brushing my tongue in the morning.”

The announcement of Nick’s claim to fame comes as Guinness reveals the newest set of record holders.

It also celebrates its 60th anniversary.

There are also many other impressive – and odd – feats. Take a look at some more of them.

The heaviest weight lifted by human beard is 63.80 kg (140 lb 16 oz – about the weight of an average woman).

The record is held by Antanas Kontrimas of Lithuania in Istanbul, Turkey.

Largest yo-yo

Beth Johnson from Ohio, has built the biggest yo-yo, measuring 3.65m in diameter and weighing 2095.6kg (4,620lb). It took her a year and a half to complete.

Yes, it’s huge – but apparently it is “fully operational”.

She wanted to make “something better and bigger than anyone else had done before”.

“Everyone thought I was crazy but I didn’t care. I’m not a quitter. Anything worth doing, is worth doing right,” she says.

Looking to get a record but don’t want to put in the effort yourself?

Why not copy Samantha Martin of Austin, Texas and train your cat to see if it can beat Alley’s record of the longest feline jump of 182.88cm.

Longest golf club

If the length of your golf club equals success on the course, then Karsten Maas from Denmark is set to be the next Rory McIlroy.

At 4.37m, it’s been named the longest usable club and has been used to drive a ball a distance of 165.46m.

He says it’s unlikely you’ll see him on the green with it any time soon though.

“The weight and length of the club make striking the ball really exhausting. Plus I don’t have a caddy!”

Guinness World Records 2015 edition is out on 11 September.
